TheSuicideSign: “Valerie Anne Poxleitner. I had met Lights a couple of times before but it wasn’t until the other day that I finally got the opportunity to photograph her with the suicide sign. I’d like to write some super cool story about this photo but the truth is there’s not much behind it. I was in Canada and so was she so we made it happen. However, what is cool is Lights personality, the outrageously positive energy she gives out and the unbelievable good example she sets for all girls. It’s not often I get to photograph woman (this is only the 4th girl I’ve shot for this project) let alone a mother and so that’s why I’m so pumped on this photo. It’s so hard to handle being in the public eye but then you add touring, marriage and parenthood to the mix and you’ve got a full plate. Lights somehow finds a way to handle all of those just fine while still remaining a humble, joyful person to be around. I had an absolutely blast taking this photo and I’m very grateful she wanted to help out :)”
