A girl wrote something on Facebook:

  • «You are not obligated to read, and don’t hate me for this text, thank you in advance. there are girls and boys who do not love their lives, who want to commit suicide or they self-harm. Shit, you’ve seen the conditions of these Africans? they want to become doctors, teachers. but many among them can not do the studies. you do not like your life? you got everything to make it better. it’s hard, but stop whining for your minor pains. these Africans are happy despite all the shit they can live. you want to drop out of school because you’re tired of it? you’re too “cool” to study? yeah, you said that there’s lots of young people who want to be in your place but can not because they have bad conditions. we all have a fucking good chance to go far in life and you because you want to look “cool”, you drop out to forget. you are not “cool”, but Africans are. they are much more than you who starts to take drugs. realize how lucky you are.»

Even if I know she wrote «You are not obligated to read, and don’t hate me for this text» I can’t keep myself wondering if she ever wanted to kill herself. If she ever self-harmed. I’m not judging her, I know there are many persons who want our lives. But do you ever lived this pain to say that we shouldn’t feel it? Do you know how it feels? I don’t think so. Stop comparing to Africans, everybody lives his own pain and the worst for me is not the same ‘worst’ for them, or for you. Saying don’t cry because someone can have it worse it’s like saying don’t be happy because someone can be more than you. You can’t understand if you never lived it. Self-harm is something serious, and suicidal thoughts are not voluntary or wanted. Grow up.
